Antonio Reynoso was born and raised in Los Sures, Williamsburg as the son of two Dominican immigrants, and is a 2006 graduate of LeMoyne College in Syracuse.&nbsp;He first entered public office in 2013 as a New York City Council Member representing Williamsburg and Bushwick in Brooklyn and Ridgewood in Queens. In 2021, Brooklynites elected him Borough President to bring bold, progressive leadership to Borough Hall.Antonio’s time as Borough President has been impactful. When Antonio’s wife, Iliana, an Afro-Caribbean woman, was pregnant with their first son, they went for a prenatal appointment at Woodhull Hospital. There, Antonio learned that Black women in New York City were eight times more likely to die of pregnancy-related causes than their white counterparts. Since then, he has dedicated himself to addressing New York City’s maternal health crisis and championing reproductive justice. Within Antonio’s first year as Borough President, he made history by allocating the entirety of his fiscal year budget – a total of $45 million – to outfit Brooklyn’s three public hospitals with state-of-the-art women’s health and birthing centers. With the help of his Maternal Health Task Force, he has since built an expansive maternal health agenda that includes everything from creating an annual $50,000 community baby shower fund to establishing Brooklyn College’s first-of-its-kind perinatal mental health program and piloting the Born in Brooklyn baby boxes that Mayor Mamdani has now decided to expand citywide. In Congress, Antonio will extend his historic maternal health agenda to DC and zero in on reproductive justice as Trump and Republicans continue to chip away at people’s right to make decisions about their own bodies, access abortion, and receive holistic reproductive care. He will support universal access to reproductive and sexual healthcare, fight for the full repeal of the Hyde Amendments, and advocate to codify abortion as a Constitutional right. In his campaign for Medicare for All, he will demand coverage for abortion and reproductive care, and in the meantime, he will fight to require Medicaid and private insurance to cover abortion and reproductive care as well. He will advocate for expanded access to medication abortion. He will fight for protections for clients experiencing harassment and physical harm while entering an abortion clinic. He will strengthen data privacy laws and shield laws for those receiving and providing abortion care, including via telehealth. And he will expose Crisis Pregnancy Centers seeking to mislead and misguide people seeking medical care.

Over the past five years, the United States has experienced the largest upward transfer of wealth in American history. Billionaires like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos have rigged the economy and taken over our political system in an insatiable pursuit of profit.&nbsp; This year alone, Tesla shareholders approved a $1 trillion pay package for Elon Musk while nearly 25% of American families are living paycheck to paycheck. And even though worker productivity is at an all-time high, everyday Americans are being squeezed by the sky-high cost of living, flat wages, and worsening worker and consumer protections.&nbsp; In Congress, Antonio will fight for a government that serves the working class, not billionaires.&nbsp; He will support efforts to overturn Citizens United, which allows billionaires and megacorporations to spend unlimited amounts of money on political campaigns. He will join the fight to tax the rich – a lot – and close loopholes that allow mega-corporations to pay zero dollars in taxes. He will champion a worker-first economy that empowers unions, promotes living wages, and allows Americans to lead balanced, dignified lives.&nbsp;&nbsp; Antonio knows what it takes to fight broken political systems. He began his career at ACORN, once the nation’s foremost advocacy group for low-income families, where he helped childcare workers across New York unionize and win essential benefits. In 2013, he ran for City Council with the backing of New Kings Democrats and defeated the disgraced former chairman of the Brooklyn Democratic Party.&nbsp; As an elected official, he rallied with private sanitation workers, nurses, service workers, delivery workers, and countless others fighting for fair contracts and better working conditions. And when Mayor Adams tried to sell out New York City to stay out of jail, Antonio was among the first elected officials to call on the Mayor to resign or be removed from office.

TAX THE RICH

Early childcare services and a good public education are the central tools that allow kids from low-income and working families to make it to the middle class. Yet years of disinvestment have hurt working families’ chances of getting affordable childcare and threatened the promise of public education from 3-K to college for our youngest neighbors. Just last year, it was announced that New York City would <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/10/nyregion/head-start-new-york-city-loses-federal-grant.html">lose $70 million in Head Start funding</a> – a federal program which helps thousands of low-income children across the city receive quality childcare services. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has<a href="https://www1.cuny.edu/sites/cunyufs/2025/09/12/on-canceled-cuny-federal-grants/"> cancelled grants to CUNY</a> and <a href="https://www.k12dive.com/news/trump-white-house-fy-2026-budget-proposal-cuts-grants-title-I-IDEA/747057/">slashed funding for K-12 education</a> while bolstering money to predatory charter schools. In a district that’s home to over 2,000 Head Start slots and two CUNY schools, Antonio will not stand for any cuts to public education or give up on the potential of good-paying jobs and fulfilling careers that come from a debt-free higher education. Antonio believes that fully funding childcare and public education are intrinsically tied together, and as a member of Congress, he will be a champion for both causes. In Congress, Antonio will champion a public education ecosystem that is well-resourced, inclusive, and truly accessible for all students. He will fight to fully fund New York City’s Head Start program so that our youngest neighbors from low-income families can be well prepared for their public education journey, and he will fight to pass universal childcare benefits and paid family leave to help working families.&nbsp;&nbsp; To combat the skyrocketing costs of higher education, Antonio will join the fight to pass the College for All Act, which will ensure that incoming students at public universities such as CUNY receive a tuition-free education, and champion legislation that will liberate college graduates from the crippling debt of student loans.&nbsp;

EDUCATION FROM CRADLE TO COLLEGE

Antonio grew up in a Section 8 apartment in Williamsburg. That federally subsidized, affordable home kept his family in the neighborhood and close to good schools, transit, and the strong community that shaped him. But today, New York City families are facing a dire housing crisis. Rents are rising faster than incomes, more of every paycheck goes toward housing, and working class people are being pushed out of the neighborhoods that anchor them. The stability Antonio’s family had is out of reach for many.&nbsp; There are many forces behind NYC’s housing crisis, and Antonio has fought at the local level to address them: fighting for Mandatory Inclusionary Housing as a Council Member and pushing to build new homes in the neighborhoods that have shut out new housing for decades as Borough President.&nbsp; But one core problem must be addressed: the federal government stopped building affordable housing decades ago and does not fund rental assistance at the scale that families need. In Congress, Antonio will fight to bring the federal government back into the affordable housing equation.&nbsp; That means advocating for a dramatic expansion in rental assistance so that the families who qualify for help receive help. And it means building affordable housing again: repairing NYCHA, repealing the Faircloth Amendment, and supporting new social housing models that are financially sustainable.Antonio will crack down on Wall Street speculators that are buying up housing and making it unaffordable and work to build more housing of all kinds, so that stable, affordable housing is in reach for families of all sizes at all stages of life.

HOMES WE CAN AFFORD

Unions enable workers to harness the power of their labor to demand better pay and working conditions. From the creation of the 40-hour workweek to the establishment of a minimum wage, unions have powered the most significant improvements to working life in America. They challenge the status quo in pursuit of a better, fairer future, which is why establishment politicians and wealthy corporations have fought so hard to chip away at union power. This decades-long campaign against workers has produced historic levels of income inequality as the average American is asked to do more with less while executives walk away with record profits. Antonio got his start helping unionize childcare workers, and as an elected official, he’s continued to build union power. During his fight to pass landmark Commercial Waste Zones legislation, he worked closely with labor to ensure the bill prioritized worker justice – improving safety conditions for the notoriously dangerous and deadly industry. He has fought alongside nurses, Deliveristas, Amazon workers, and countless others in the effort to build a labor movement centering the voices of workers and rank-and-file union members in the fight for fair wages, safe workplaces, and stronger protections for the working class.&nbsp; He’ll bring this same fight to Congress, where we will fight for an economy that puts power back in the hands of workers. He will champion the PRO Act and all efforts that repeal the harms of the Taft-Hartley Act of 1947. He will stand side-by-side with workers – including federal workers who have been targeted by Trump and his union-busting executive orders – as they organize, negotiate, and strike for workplace justice. He will advocate to strengthen the capacity, independence, and enforcement power of institutions like the NLRB and OSHA, so they can actually deliver for workers, especially in sectors where retaliation, misclassification, and wage theft are common. He will rein in models of work like gig work, subcontracting, and algorithmic management that are exploited by the rich to get richer and to undermine the working class and worker power. And as artificial intelligence takes hold of industries across the country, he will champion the guardrails that ensure these emerging technologies benefit the public good and empower workers nationwide.

UNION POWER

Healthcare in America is broken: Private insurers are driven by corporate greed. Private equity is gutting our hospital systems. And pharmaceutical giants are price-gouging prescription drugs that people can’t live without. Antonio is committed to a healthcare system that puts people before profit, and that doesn’t force working families into bankruptcy over the care they need. In Congress, Antonio will fight for a single-payer, Medicare for All system that affirms healthcare is a human right and ensures every single American has affordable health insurance. He will champion legislation that reins in corporate greed, and he will bring his historic maternal health agenda from New York to D.C. He will go toe-to-toe with Republicans to beat back their efforts to control people’s reproductive choices, restrict gender-affirming care, and surge healthcare premiums.

As Borough President, Antonio has seen the atrocities of the past two years spark grief and fear across Brooklyn. Growing up in Los Sures, Antonio learned quickly what environmental injustice looks like. He breathed toxic air playing basketball in the parks alongside the BQE. He dodged polluting garbage trucks carrying a whopping 40 percent of the city’s trash to North Brooklyn for processing. He feared exposure to the neighborhood's legacy of toxic polluters. He also saw what it looked like for a frontline community like his to fight back. Alongside local powerhouses like El Puente, OUTRAGE, Newtown Creek Alliance, and North Brooklyn Neighbors, Antonio has championed environmental justice, resiliency, and sustainability throughout his career. As Council Member, Antonio passed the Waste Equity Law to cut the daily capacity of waste transfer stations in overburdened neighborhoods like North Brooklyn. A year after it was implemented, the Department of Sanitation announced that waste processing capacity in these areas was reduced by more than 10,000 tons.&nbsp; Antonio then went on to pass his landmark Commercial Waste Zones legislation which reformed the infamously dangerous and unregulated private waste industry. The program will cut millions of truck miles from our streets every year, clean up our air, and protect our workers. As Borough President, Antonio has continued his commitment to environmental justice. He’s calling for a corridor-wide reimagination of the BQE that reconnects communities, reduces pollution, and prioritizes green infrastructure. He’s championing the completion of Equinor, New York’s $5 billion offshore wind project that already employs 1,500 union workers and will help power 500,000 homes once complete – a project that Trump continuously stalls and attacks . He’s collaborating with UPROSE to explore new visions for the Gowanus and Narrows Peaker Power Plant sites. And he’s centering sustainability, resiliency, and workforce development in his Comprehensive Plan for Brooklyn. In Congress, Antonio will put frontline communities first as he fights for our green future. He’ll back the Green New Deal which will enable our country to make the leap toward a Just Transition while creating millions of jobs to build the infrastructure we need. He’ll call for a moratorium of fossil fuel energy on federal lands and waters. He’ll seek to expand renewable energy incentives. And he’ll crack down on polluters everywhere – from AI data centers and big oil to the Department of War. Most importantly, Antonio will keep environmental justice and our climate future at the foundation of all of his work. Because we can’t advance housing, jobs, or healthcare without taking care of our environment, and we can’t take care of our environment without prioritizing the working people who face the consequences of our inaction first and hardest.

PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT

Instead of fixing our broken immigration system, Donald Trump has unleashed ICE to terrorize our local communities.In New York, masked ICE agents line the halls of 26 Federal Plaza, abducting people doing the right thing by showing up for their immigration hearings. In October, they raided Canal Street, arresting vendors, and a month later, they tried again.&nbsp; But New Yorkers know ICE doesn’t make us more safe, and we fight back.&nbsp; Antonio will bring this fight to Congress, where he will work to abolish ICE and establish legal pathways to citizenship that are efficient, effective, and compassionate.&nbsp; He will support mask bans for ICE agents and ensure status never allows for the sacrifice of immigrants’ civil rights and humanitarian protections. ICE isn’t welcome here,&nbsp;immigrants are.

ABOLISH ICE

Puerto Rico and the communities of NY-07 share deeply entwined histories. For decades,&nbsp;thousands of&nbsp;Puerto Ricans have&nbsp;moved to communities like Williamsburg and Bushwick in pursuit of a better life.&nbsp; In the face of divestment and neglect from the City, local leaders organized themselves into groups like Los Sures and El Puente that remain a force for resilience and resistance to this day. And no leader has fought harder for Puerto Ricans in New York, on the island, and across the diaspora than our very own Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez, the first Puerto Rican woman elected to Congress.&nbsp; Since 1993, Rep. Velázquez has been a relentless fighter for both the people of NY-07 and the people of Puerto Rico who are systematically deprived of essential rights and freedoms.&nbsp; In Congress, Antonio will continue Rep. Velázquez's fight to ensure the people of Puerto Rico, and no one else, decide their future. He will reintroduce Rep. Velazquez’s Puerto Rico Self-Determination Act to create a fair, independent, democratic process for Puerto Ricans to decide how they want to govern themselves. Today, Puerto Rico is caught in the crossfire of corporate greed, climate change, and Donald Trump’s imperialist agenda.&nbsp; Antonio will work with the Puerto Rican community to ensure these pressing issues are addressed in the halls of Congress.&nbsp; Amid rolling blackouts, high utility bills, and a crippled power grid, he will hold LUMA Energy and Genera PR accountable and champion a reliable, affordable power system for Puerto Ricans. As the island is hit with stronger and more frequent climate disasters, he will call for billions in recovery and resiliency funding.&nbsp; Antonio understands the people of Puerto Rico will never be truly free without economic justice. He will advocate for the total cancellation of Puerto Rico’s debt and fight for Puerto Rico’s right to have sustainable economic development away from La Junta’s unelected regime of austerity and injustice. He will support an overhaul to rigged tax haven policies like Puerto Rico’s Act 22, which has destabilized the local housing market, displaced longtime residents, and cheated the Puerto Rican government from billions of dollars of critical revenue by exempting outside investors from paying taxes on interests, dividends, and capital gains.&nbsp; As Donald Trump threatens to invade Venezuela and deploys thousands of troops to Vieques, decades after locals successfully forced the Navy out, Antonio will call for transparency, denounce the remilitarization of Puerto Rico, and oppose any actions that threaten the environmental and physical well-being of the island and its residents.&nbsp;
